Every dog in our care is just waiting for a safe place to land, a couch to crash on, a cozy corner to rest in, or simply a gentle hand to show them kindness. By saying “yes” to fostering, you’re giving these pups a second chance at life.
Whether you’re able to foster for a few days or a few months, when you make space for a rescue pup, you’re helping FoF save two lives.
At FoF, as soon as one of our pups is adopted or placed into a loving foster home,
we immediately go back to the high-kill shelters in our area and rescue another dog in need. By applying to foster today, you’re signing up to double your impact on the lives of Kentucky’s most at-risk dogs.
Thank you for your interest!
A: It happens! There’s even a term for this exact experience, “foster failing,” when you fall in love and decide to adopt your foster as your new best friend. Even if you don’t adopt, the truth is, you’ll always feel connected to your fosters. After all, you were an integral part of their journey toward a better life. So, while it can be hard to say goodbye, you’ll have the peace of mind knowing that because of you, they were able to find their perfect person.
A: Yes! No matter your living situation or lifestyle, our team will work with you to find the right fit. Many of our foster families have kids, other pets, or live in smaller spaces.
A: Every case is different, but most stays range from a few weeks to a few months. We’ll always discuss timing upfront and work with your schedule. And, if things change, your pup can always come back to the rescue. We’re here to support you and your foster at every step along the way!
A: We do! You’ll never be out of pocket. We supply food and medical care—everything your foster needs while they’re with you. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t spoil them with a special treat or toy too!
